"Dancing with the feet is one thing, but dancing with the heart is another."

Moving Inward offers dance classes and workshops that are designed to cultivate mindfulness and provide opportunities for creative expression and body image healing. Our dance classes are designed for those who are seeking a deeper connection to the body, an opportunity to connect to their creative spirit, or a playful and freeing alternative to traditional aerobic activities.
Moving Inward's philosophy:
Living Authentically
After working with body image and eating disorders for over nine years, I found that freedom from negative body image occurs from the inside out — when we are able to live from a place of connection and authenticity rather than objectification and self-judgment. Living authentically requires patience, courage and strength. It requires us to move inward to identify our unique expression of life and move outward to share our uniqueness with those around us. Through dance, we are invited to play with our unique sense of self as we connect to our inner truth, feelings, and creative spirit.
Mindful Movement
Mindfulness through movement allows us to observe and experience our bodies through the lens of compassion and curiosity, rather than judgment or criticism. As we follow our creative impulses, we learn to trust our body to guide us in movement and are aware of our bodily
sensations and feelings as we move. By connecting to our body's unique sense of motion, its innate rhythm and fluid nature, we witness the creative process
in action and return to the spontaneous flow of movement in a safe and
soulful way.
